city we're now told the latest totals could be in the 14 inch range, boston is clearly the bulls eye of this northeast storm, but so many areas are going to feel it all around that and that city could get as much as three feet, we're being told right now. if you're planning to travel by air in the area on the map, you can pretty much forget it, folks. nearly 3800 flights have been canceled on the east coast, and the mayor of boston deploying work crews out in force, and virtually planning to shut the city down. they don't want anybody out on the roads. >> we have a 34,000 tons of salt over 600 pieces of equipment ready to be deployed throughout the storm. again, this is a storm of major proportion. stay off the roads. stay home. let the public works crews do their job the next 48 to 72 hours. >> so you hear that, and a live report coming up later in the hour from our fox extreme weather center which will give you the newest information and we will have an update coming in soon on the storm's path. and this is the other huge story right now, the desperate search for a suspected killer

weather service has issued urgent warnings. kansas city is expecting 9 to 15 inches of snow tonight into tuesday. the same system just left a blanket of white over much of colorado, cancelling hundreds of flights out of denver international on sunday. sam brownback is calling for drivers to stay off the road in his state. and he has worries this storm has the potential to be more dangerous. jennifer delgado live for us now. how bad is it this morning? >> it seems like we always are talking about some type of winter storm. you're right. we're talking about dangerous conditions setting up. you see the blizzard warning in place. across kansas, texas, new mexico, as well as missouri. we're going to see the winds really picking up as we go later into the afternoon and the evening hours. that means visibility is really going to be down. overall, we have about 17 states that are under some type of winter weather warning advisory. and it is going to be a bad one out there. look what's happening right now. we already are seeing storms moving through central texas, as well as that snow workin

into the murder of a new york city woman in turkey, 33-year-old woman reported missing two weeks ago vacationing lb in istanbul. her body was discovered this week near a wall. she had a head wound and was lying near a blanket. she may have been killed by someone else and then moved. according to local media reports 15 people are being questioned by turn irk police two days before she vanished. she was captured on this surveillance videotape near one of the main shopping centers. she leaves behind a husband and two sons. >> heather: we are getting new information on the tragic death of a legendary veteran, most lethal sniper in u.s. military history killed at a shooting at a texas gun range. chris kyle a navy seal that served in four tours in iraq. he and another man were gunned down by a former soldier who kyle was reportedly helping with post-traumatic stress disorder. eddie ray roth has been charged with two counts of murder. molly is live with more on this tragic story. >> chris kyle the u.s. military's most deadly sniper and another man were both killed at rough creek lodge 50 miles southwes

in new orleans. it's a situation where everything post 9/11 happens in a major city like superdome you have to start asking questions. there was no terrorism involved. nothing that way. the crowd never got to be in a panicked state when half of the power went out. when the company that supplies the energy to the superdome said basically it was a power surge. the system thought there was an abnormality and shut down. equivalent of at your house a power breaker goes off. a breaker broke. and the half of the energy in the stadium goes off. half the power goes off. here's the thing, for those of you watching at home you had no explanation because the power went out on the side of the announcers, jim nance and phil simms for cbs. you could not hear them because the power was out on their side of the stadium as well. so fans were in the dark inside the stadium and all over the world because there was no explanation. what happened was there was a surge -- there was no fire as originally reported. and the players resumed after 34 minutes on of a power outage. >> 34 long minutes. it felt like i

better the temperature in new york city, 37 degrees and it's actually going to be mild across the northeast all the way down to florida. florida is going to be seeing highs into the 80s across southern parts of the state. 76 in the city of tampa, new york city, 46 degrees for high temperature. take a look at portions of the upper midwest. it will be cold day. minneapolis, high temperature is only going to be 3 degrees. that is warm as it is going to get. you factor in the wind and windchill at the moment north central are frigid. it feels like 35 below zero in fargo. we do have a storm system that is impacting portions of great lakes down to the southeast with areas of heavier rain but overall this system is going to be quick mover. doesn't have a lot of moisture. snowfall amounts in the studio that are going to be relatively lighted where you see the white during the morning hours, otherwise portions of maine could see up to ten inches of snow. that is where we have the winter storm winning. out in west, stormy weather expected. we have a new storm that is going to be impacti

's following the investigation for us. what's the latest, brian? >> reporter: one city official tells us this is the most analyzed piece of electricity in history. we do have new information on concerns about the power supply in the month leading up to the super bowl. in the months leading up to super bowl xlvii, there were worries and warnings among superdome officials about the stadium's power situation. that's from memos from the superdome management group. october 15th, 2012, a memo from pat toppler refers to transient spikes in loads in the system that had previously occurred. >> the concern whether the connection point from the grid to the superdome was reliable. this memo says a test determined that the power feeder line had some decay and had a chance of failure. >> a letter five days before that from an outside engineer hired by the superdome said based on test results, the superdome's main and only electrical feed are not sufficiently liable to support the high profile event schedule. >> and in response to that entergy and superdome services constructed a whole new vault that t

in algeria when they took over the hostages. but in 2009 they tried to blow up an aircraft over the city of detroit when they were landing on christmas day, which was a very real, very serious event and but for a quarter of an inch, that device would have gone off, killing hundreds on the airplane and who knows how many hundreds on the ground. it was a very densely populated. so they are still under attack. we should be able to go after and get after those folks overseas so they don't get here. jenna: your point is well-taken. the beginning and end to the war on terror is challenging to say the least. i want to just quickly get your thoughts on this because we've talked a great deal in the past about your feelings about this administration leaking information to the press on highly classified, highly classified situations and serious operations like the bin laden raid. how concerned are you that a man you've often criticized being at the center of some of these leaks, john brennan, may be the nation's top spy? >> for the record, i never said that john brennan was the center of the leaks.

. temperatures continue to fall. the snow remains heavy in new york city, all throughout connecticut. it begins to taper off on the western side of this by around 5:00 a.m. that's new york city and much of upstate new york. it continues until the afternoon tomorrow in boston, but the temps drop for everybody. so that means it's going to remain frozen all the way into tomorrow night we'll be seeing the roads remain frozen. take a look at where the winds are gusting right now. we've been up toward the 54-mile-an-hour range in boston. we're at 62 in nantucket. that's going to remain around that rate for probably about the next 6-7 hours. that means we'll continue to see storm surge and a lot of coastal flooding, areas that were impacted by sand panda partiall. a storm surge along with this, coinciding with a new moon tide tomorrow morning. unfortunately we'll see a lot of damage with it. greta? >> greta: rick, thank you. we'll check back in with you later. now to the boston area where they are bracing for several peat of snow. fox news correspondent molly line is live in boston. molly, you've got
